Are you tired of searching for a “Houston Texas Oculoplastic Surgeon Near Me?” Plastic Eye Surgery Associates is the premier facial plastic surgery center in Houston, Texas. We provide a variety of facial procedures with a focus around the eye region that can significantly benefit you. Houston TX oculoplastic surgery is a very specialized surgery that deals with the complex and delicate area around the eyes. Generally, this includes the eyelids, tear drainage system, orbit (eye socket) and adjacent tissues of the face.
You may think ophthalmic plastic surgery is not common, but then you would be mistaken. Blepharoplasty and other types of eyelid surgery are some of the most common types of cosmetic surgery performed in America. Many people require eyelid surgery for medical reasons, like droopy eyelids or a turned out eyelid (ectropion). Fixing these kinds of eyelid issues can improve vision or provide better protection for the eyeball itself.
Some patients have cosmetic needs for their eyelids, like eye bag removal and excising excess skin. As we mentioned, others have a functional need for eyelid surgery. More so, oculoplastic surgeons delve deeper and also take care of the orbit, or the complex area behind the eye. In the orbit, the bones, extraocular muscles, fatty tissue, and optic nerve all contribute to the vision and overall health of the eye.
Unfortunately, people can have an accident resulting in injury to the orbital tissues. Additionally, cancer and other diseases can cause tumors or masses to form behind the eye. Our board-certified surgeons are the experts at dealing with these complex problems in the orbit. They can help you with any cosmetic and plastic surgery.
Meet our Team
Plastic Eye Surgery Associates was founded in 1985 by Dr. James Patrinely and Dr. Charles Soparkar. Dr. Jennifer Murdock joined these two amazing physicians in practice several years later. All of our surgeons have many years of experience in surgery around the eye and are widely recognized as leaders in ophthalmic plastic surgery. They have created a unique, cooperative practice that focuses on putting patient care first.
Dr. James Patrinely
Dr. Patrinely focuses on plastic surgery as well as cosmetic procedures for VIP patients. He received his medical degree from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine with a Dean’s award. He also went through extensive training at Johns Hopkins, University of Utah, and Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. Patrinely is a board-certified surgeon and is also a Fellow of the America College of Surgeons and American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery. Furthermore, he was an associate professor at Baylor College of Medicine for over ten years. He taught training doctors in ophthalmology and plastic surgery.
Now, Dr. Patrinely is still involved with the development of new techniques and training of surgeons in his field. He is often called by other surgeons to assist in complicated cases dealing with horrible injuries of accident victims. Dr. Patrinely is widely known and well respected in his field.
Dr. Charles Soparkar
Dr. Soparkar is a longtime friend and mentor of Dr. Patrinely. He obtained his Ph.D. and his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts. He was also the Chief of Ophthalmic Oncology and Oculoplastic Surgery at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Boston University Medical Center, and Lahey-Hitchcock Clinic.
Additionally, Dr. Soparkar founded the organization known as the Pan American Study Society (PASS). PASS is comprised of 30 leading oculoplastic and facial plastic surgeons who are dedicated to setting the highest standards for patient care and improving clinical knowledge.
Now, Dr. Soparkar’s primary task at our practice is corrective surgery. More than 60% of his surgical procedures are correcting the work of other surgeons. He has also treated over 7,000 patients with Thyroid Eye Disease. He is an expert in cancer in the orbit and around the eye. Dr. Soparkar is dedicated to creating different surgical plans for each and every patient who walks in for either cosmetic or reconstructive needs.
Dr. Jennifer Murdock
Drs. Patrinely and Soparkar brought Dr. Jennifer Murdock into the practice to add a female perspective. She spent a decade at the University of Miami for college, a research fellowship, medical school, and an internship. She studied cosmetic medicine, advancing the fields of facial plastic surgery, dermatology, and cosmetic medicine.
Dr. Murdock continued her surgical training in her hometown of Houston, Texas. She completed her ophthalmology residency at Baylor College of Medicine. Later, she stood as one of the most competitive candidates and was accepted into the well renowned fellowship program at the Casey Eye Institute in Portland, Oregon. There, she learned how to address the eye region of men and women as well as kids.
Now, Dr. Murdock joins the ranks of her partners as a board-certified surgeon, providing oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery for men and women. Dr. Murdock specializes in kids, too! Pediatric patients may have droopy eyelids, or ptosis, from weak eyelid muscles or abnormalities that affect the eye, vision, or brain.
In Houston, Texas, you won’t find a better female plastic surgeon who specializes in the area around the eyes. Joining her colleagues, Dr. Patrinely and Dr. Soparkar, these top plastic eye surgeons are specialists in eyelid surgery, reconstruction of the eyelid or orbit, and facial cosmetic surgery, like eyelid lifts and forehead lifts. They all come together at Plastic Eye Surgery Associates to bring the best facial plastic surgery to both men and women in Houston, Texas.
Our Surgery is One-of-a-Kind
Sometimes eating right, exercising, and find ways to reduce stress can keep us looking great! Regardless, we all age. Crow’s feet, droopy eyelids, bags under the eyes, and frown lines greatly impact our look. Plastic Eye Surgery Associates provide cosmetic surgery of face and eyes to reverse these aging changes. Call now for a consultation to see how we can bring life back to your eyes.
We are dedicated to providing the best plastic and reconstructive surgery available. Our surgical skills are unlike any other surgical practice. Our surgeons are globally and nationally recognized as leaders in oculoplastic surgery.
We do things differently here at PESA. Our team understands that each patient who comes into our office has a different facial structure than the last. One women’s forehead could project further out than the previous women’s, thus causing a different eye shape. If we were to perform the same surgery on both women in the exact same way, then both women would be unhappy with their results.
Our amazing surgeons take great care to individualize treatment strategies for each unique patient. We never treat our patients like a surgical assembly line because we take your individual facial features and other personal traits into account. Gender, age, race, forehead features, eyebrow height, and facial asymmetry are just a few of the details we consider. We will provide the best surgical option that best suits you, based on your goals and anatomy.
