Your Sugar Land TX Ptosis Surgery Just Got a Whole Lot Easier

Plastic Eye Surgery Associates have been operating in Houston for over 25 years, but our surgeons have been prominent leaders in oculoplastic surgery for much longer than that. We perform with one mission: Patient satisfaction. If you’re not happy, neither are we.  Our surgical team strives for the best surgical results. You will be looking younger and feeling great, too.

Ptosis Surgery Overview

While blepharoplasty is a procedure that involves surgery that removes excess skin from the eyelid, ptosis surgery is slightly different. Blepharoptosis (or droopy eyelid) can’t be corrected by simply removing excess skin in the eyelid. Droopy eyelids occur due to weakening of the muscles from birth, injury, contact lens use, repeated eyelid rubbing, prior eye surgeries, or just aging. The muscle can become stretched out, be weak from fatty deposits infiltrating the muscle fibers, or detach from its position on the eyelid.

To correct droopy eyelids, our board-certified surgeons either strengthen or tighten the primary muscle that controls the eyelid and to make it easier to lift the eyelid. Rarely, they will have to recruit other muscles, like from the forehead with a frontalis sling, to help lift the eyelid if there is little to know eyelid lifting function.

The benefits of this procedure are self-evident. Eyelid lift, facial symmetry, and improved vision are great reasons to correct ptosis. Also, fixing this issue improves confidence and restores your natural look. Many patients report that their eyelids feel lighter after surgery, making them less tired and more alert.

Ptosis surgery includes a small incision, hidden in your natural eyelid crease. While bruising and swelling occur after every surgery, ptosis repair generally has less downtime and a quick recovery compared to other facial procedures. Dr. Patrinely and Dr. Soparkar are globally recognized in the oculoplastic field and dedicate their practice to helping those with bizarre facial problems.
